2016 Rockingham Excavations

The excavations at the Rockingham Moated site in 2016 proved to be both challenging and rewarding.  A group of around fifteen students and three supervisors excavated the corner of the MacDermot moated site, the landward element of the MacDermot capital in the thirteenth century.

Evidence of industrial activity was uncovered including metal working and trade.  A large grain kiln was fully excavated, with a date as early as the fourteenth century.
